WARRIORS DEFEATED IN HIGH SCORING AFFAIR AGAINST AQUINAS
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - In one of the highest-scoring games of the season, Rochester wasn't able to get the win against the Aquinas Saints on Wednesday night. Despite the loss, forward Brett White put up one of the program's best scoring performances in recent memory, scoring 32 points on a blistering 11-12 shooting.
White pulled down nine rebounds in addition to the shooting and was 6-7 from the three-point line. Guards Brody Parker and Gunner Walters added 10 points each, while center James Fisher posted 11 points and five rebounds off the bench. The Saints had five players score in double-figures, with guard Jared Lary leading with 21 off the bench.
THE RUNDOWN
FIRST HALF
- Rochester's first half was an efficient one, with the team shooting over 50% from the field with White getting things going immediately. The Warriors overcame an early ten-point deficit thanks to big threes from White and Walters
- Guard Zane Draper provided an impactful four minutes in the first half, hitting both of his shots to help the Warriors get the lead. The final two minutes of the period were big for the Warriors, with the team getting a three from forward Brandon Michrina before a 5-0 run by White
SECOND HALF
- The Saints did not let the game get out of hand, starting the half with a quick five points. White began a herculean half of basketball, scoring the first of his 21 points in the half on a jumper plus the foul. White would not be denied, hitting several impressive shots from range to the joy of the bench
- Behind a barrage of threes from White, Rochester went up by five with five minutes remaining. However, the Saints flipped a switch and scored 18 points in the final five minutes, which the Warriors had trouble finding answers for. With a minute to go, the Warriors had to send the Saints to the line, but Aquinas made sure to seal the deal at the line
POSTGAME PRESSER
Head Coach Klint Pleasant had this to say on the loss in the final minutes:
"[Aquinas' players] were shotmakers down the stretch. And we fell asleep and weren't nearly juiced enough with our weak side defense."

White's 32-point performance was the first 30-point performance by a Warrior in a long time, with the last being on March 12, 2021, when Virgil Walker Jr. scored 31 against WVU Tech in the NAIA National Tournament.
