Bio
Scott Samuels is no stranger to Rochester Christian as he grew up in Clawson. Samuels’s family have been longtime supporters of the college dating back to the school’s early years. Samuels began his service at Rochester Christian University in 2002, when he brought his strong business background to the classroom as a faculty member at the College of Business. Samuels’s success in leading an employee fundraising campaign for the Athletic Center and his desire to work with prospective students led him out of the classroom and into administration, where he served as the director of admissions and assistant athletic director.
Samuels brings a wealth of experience to Rochester Christian University. He spent 14 years in banking and investment, and in addition to his banking responsibilities, he also worked as a personal financial adviser for professional athletes. Samuels helped coach the RCU men’s basketball team in 2004 and 2005 when the team won back-to-back national championships. He graduated from Oklahoma Christian University in 1986 and completed a Masters of Finance from Walsh College in 1996.
In addition to his work in our basketball program, Samuels serves as a Vice President for Rochester Christian University. He oversees admissions, development, and communication offices. Samuels is married to Christie (Powers), and they have one son, Jacob Scott Samuels.
COACH PLEASANT’S THOUGHTS ON COACH SAMUELS:
“Coach Samuels plays a vital role within our basketball program. I lean on him as a trusted friend and coach. He mentors players, assists with study hall, and works hard in practices and in games. His input is spot on, and his presence makes our program better. I can’t think of anyone more selfless and caring about Rochester Christian basketball than Coach Samuels. He puts in untold hours to improve our program and is a huge part of our success. In addition, he is truly a special friend."
