MEN'S WHAC CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS; SHAW EARNS FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE, SETS WHAC RECORD
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - It was a monumental weekend for junior Alec Shaw and the Warriors at the 2024 WHAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, with Shaw winning individual WHAC Championships in the Men's 1 Mile and 800m events, setting the conference record for the mile event. Additionally, Shaw earned NAIA A Standard times, securing national qualifying bids in both events.
Shaw's First Team All-Conference nods are the first in the history of the program, and the first time a Warrior has earned NAIA A Standards in two events within the same meet.
Shaw's time of 4:15.83 in the mile bested the previous record set in 2022 by Cornerstone University's Louis Falland by .12 seconds. In the 800m event, Shaw set a time of 1:55.510, besting the NAIA A Standard by .34 seconds. Brandon Zielke joined Shaw in the top ten of the 1 Mile, placing ninth with a time of 4:37.259. Three other Warriors - Cameron Stermer, Eli Hullinger, and Noah Peterson - placed in the top 15. Wyatt Emmons secured a 12th-place finish in the Men's 3000m, running an 8:58.78.
