Nixon hired to lead Cross Country programs

(Rochester Hills, MI) - Warrior Athletics is excited to welcome Sean Nixon as Rochester Christian University's new Men's and Women's Cross Country Head Coach ahead of the 2025 season.

Nixon was most recently the Director of Racing and Biathlon in the Northwest for the United States Army, which included training and developing athletes for competitions.

Nixon had this to say about the opportunity: "I'm very grateful to our Athletic Director Clayton Bissett and Rochester Christian University for giving me the helm of the Men's and Women's Cross Country teams.  I look forward to bringing my leadership, knowledge, and experience to the team to help them grow and reach or exceed their goals."

In addition to his coaching experience within the US Army, Nixon has been a Head Coach at two different stops, including the University of Redlands and Spring Arbor University. He was also an assistant coach at Western Michigan following undergrad, where he helped coach an MAC Championship team, six school Hall of Fame athletes, 7 All-Americans, and 21 National Championship qualifiers.

Athletic Director Clayton Bissett had this to say about Nixon joining the RCU coaching staff: "Nixon brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our cross-country and distance programs.  I know he will be a benefit to our athletes and to our department as a whole."

Nixon holds a master's degree from Western Michigan University, which he earned back in 2008. He is also a recipient of the MacArthur Leadership Award, a gold medal at the Military Cross Country National Championships, a bronze medal at the Biathlon National Championships, and is a four-time All-Mid-American runner at Western Michigan.
