Softball drops pair of games against Lourdes

(Sylvania, OH) - The Rochester Christian softball team traveled south to Ohio for a doubleheader against the Lourdes Gray Wolves on Saturday afternoon. 

GAME 1 - LOURDES 10, ROCHESTER CHRISTIAN 1

Emily Leusby (3-8) took the loss on the mound for the Warriors, pitching the first 2.1 innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on six hits with a strikeout. 

Lourdes started the game with four runs in the first two innings, taking advantage of an early RCU error to score two runs. 

Jaya Forti began the third with a first-pitch home run, the second home run of her career, to make it 4-1. 

From that point, though, Lourdes tallied six more runs using some extra base hits in order to end the game in five innings. 

Rory Miller closed out the final two innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits. 

GAME 2 - LOURDES 9, ROCHESTER CHRISTIAN 1

Amber Lamphier (2-5) pitched the first 1.2 innings for RCU, allowing eight runs on seven hits with a strikeout. 

The Gray Wolves once again jumped out to a lead in the first inning, three runs, including a two-run home run. 

Amber Lamphier got the Warriors on the board in the top of the second inning with an RBI double, scoring Angelina Viviano. 

Lourdes' offense kept the pace up with five runs in the bottom half of the inning before putting up a final run in the third inning. 

Kaylie Rickert finished off the final 2.1 innings, allowing one run on four hits. 

UP NEXT

The Warriors remain in Ohio and travel to take on the Defiance Yellow Jackets in Defiance, Ohio, with a doubleheader beginning at 1 PM.
