Women's Track and Field closes out season at the WHAC Championships
(Fort Wayne, IN) - The Rochester Christian women's track and field team closed out its season at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Championships this past weekend.
FIELD RESULTS
Mckenzie Reese competed in a pair of events for the Warriors on the field side of the championships. Reese would place 20th in both the Shot Put and the Discus events, throwing 9.60 meters and 24.71 meters, respectively.
TRACK RESULTS
Mackenzie Montagano earned the points for the Warriors at the event as she placed fifth in the 10,000-meter race and seventh in the 5,000-meter race. Montagano would break the RCU record for the 10km race, running a time of 39:58.41, besting the record by nearly a minute and running nearly a five-minute personal best. In the 5km race, Montagano earned a time of 19:03.01, which was also a personal best.
Aurora Jacobs ran in the 800-meter race, running to a personal best time of 2:27.79 and finishing in 17th-place.
CHAMPIONS OF CHARACTER
Mackenzie Montagano was recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The senior was honored for her commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
ALL-ACADEMIC
The WHAC announced its All-Academic teams, which include sophomores and above in Academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.25. The three Warriors honored were Mackenzie Montagano, Mckenzie Reese, and Amanda Ursey.
