WARRIORS FALL IN STRAIGHT SETS TO CONCORDIA

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Warriors (7-19, 0-13) fell in three neck-and-neck sets to the Concordia Cardinals (11-13, 6-7) on Oct. 25. In all three games during the match, the Warriors were defeated by no more than three points in the match, with two sets going to extra points. Right side Madelyn Geisenhaver led the Warriors in kills with ten, while setters Mackenzie Keefer and Emma Hock combined for 33 assists. 

THE RUNDOWN

FIRST GAME - 28-30 CUAA

• The teams started out with back-and-forth strikes, with RCU emerging with a lead following kills by outside hitter Kourtney Mack. Midway through the first game, the Warriors went on a massive run, leading by as much as eight points thanks to kills by a wide range of Warriors. The Warriors were incredibly close to winning the first game, leading 24-16. However, the Cardinals recovered in a big way, scoring eight unanswered to tie the set and force extra points. The teams traded points, but the Cardinals gained the upper hand late and took the set 30-28

SECOND GAME - 22-25 CUAA

• The Warriors started off well to begin the second game, leading 5-1 after kills by Hailee Mancogna and Chante Hudgins. After the Cardinals recovered to make it a closer game, RCU maintained a four-point lead through the middle of the second game. Geisenhaver and senior Emily Carroll tacked on kills to keep RCU ahead, but attack errors gave Concordia a chance to take the lead, which was capitalized on. Alivia Everitt tied the game for the Warriors at 20-20, but big plays by the Cardinals' Megan Neumann gave Concordia a two-set lead

THIRD GAME - 25-27 CUAA

• The Warriors found themselves down to start the third game, with CUAA pulling off several kills to get through the Warrior defense. After falling behind 18-12, the Warriors found some major momentum and began to rally back into the set behind a huge stretch from Carroll. The senior nailed three consecutive kills during a 7-0 run that saw the Warriors go from trailing to leading. The Warriors inched close to winning the third game, but a 5-1 run by the hosts put the match away before RCU had a chance to come back

STAT OF THE GAME

Today's match was Geisenhaver's third this season with 10+ kills.
