OFFENSE SOARS IN MEN’S SOCCER’S WIN OVER IU EAST

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI - Plenty of players got in on the action during the Warriors' (2-1-0) 5-0 win over Indiana East (0-6-0) on Saturday afternoon at Rochester High School. With opportunities coming in droves, the Warriors made sure to leave no doubt in this one and end the week on a positive note.

Rochester started the game off slightly sloppy, with missed opportunities at open goals. However, that wouldn't remain the theme, as in the 29th minute, forward Dmitar Stankovic scored his first goal in the season after forcing a penalty on the Red Wolves.

Shortly after, senior Ellis Jones would find another score for Rochester. Off a past from freshman Nemanja Adamovic, Jones would patiently wait for an opening, scoring a cheeky chip shot goal to the delight of the home crowd.

Things continued to go Rochester's way, as Stankovic would again find the back of the net off an errant save from the Red Wolves. Indiana East continued to have trouble, as their goalkeeper would be sent off on a straight red card after committing a handball outside the goalkeeper box on a clear scoring opportunity for Stankovic.

The second half would quickly start back up for Rochester. After allowing a shot, Rochester drove down the pitch, where Stankovic would find junior Garrett Doud for a short goal on the right side of the keeper. Doud would nearly score again but would be halted by the Red Wolves' goalie.

Later in the second half, sophomore Gadiel Herrera would find the back of the net for the first time this season, getting a shot off a blocked ball. Rochester would finish the game with a final score of 5-0, with players heading over to celebrate with the home crowd.

Rochester will travel to Goshen (IN) on Wednesday, Sept. 13 for a 7 p.m. matchup.
