MEN'S SOCCER SECURES VICTORY IN FINAL HOME GAME OF SEASON
Men’s Soccer (4-8-2, 2-6-1) was able to celebrate a win for its final home game of the season on Saturday afternoon, with the team defeating the Concordia Cardinals (1-11-4, 0-6-3) 3-1. In what was an intense, fast-paced, and physical matchup, Rochester secured the advantage by utilizing effective counterattacks.

WASHINGTON, MI - Men's Soccer (4-8-2, 2-6-1) was able to celebrate a win for its final home game of the season on Saturday afternoon, with the team defeating the Concordia Cardinals (1-11-4, 0-6-3) 3-1. In what was an intense, fast-paced, and physical matchup, Rochester secured the advantage by utilizing effective counterattacks.
This contest featured no shortage of offense, with both teams combining for 35 total shots in the contest. Rochester's first goal would be from senior Nik Gjonaj, who scored on a penalty shot drawn by junior Dmitar Stankovic in the seventh minute.
The first half would be very back and forth, with things getting chippy. However, both teams threw a slew of shots at each other's keepers, with sophomore Kris Tauzik having a very strong performance overall.
The second half would only pick up in ferocity, with both teams only amping up the pressure. Rochester's adjustments would show first, with Stankovic getting his first of two goals on a rebound from a shot from sophomore Ivan Stojanovic.
Just three minutes later, Rochester scored again, with senior Luis Koleci connecting with Stankovic on some great ball movement, allowing Stankovic to drive the ball into the back right corner. The Cardinals wouldn't go down just yet, scoring in the 75th minute to put some pressure on Rochester.
However, the defense would step up in a big way for the Warriors, with Tauzik leading the way on some big saves. On what might've been the most crucial play of the day for the Warriors, Tauzik would make a diving save on a close shot after a corner kick. The Cardinals would get the rebound, but some tremendous hustle from defenders Sean Reardon and Stojanovic would halt the second attempt in its tracks.
The Warriors would continue their defensive momentum until the final buzzer, securing a 3-1 win. Tauzik recorded five saves during the contest.

Rochester will head out on the road to face Cornerstone (4-8-4, 2-5-2) on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m.
